Annual Budget Vote and Trustee Information


One week from today, April 9 is our Annual Budget and Trustee Election.  All registered voters of the South Country School District are encouraged to vote.  Please see our website or visit the library for candidate and budget information. 

Polls open at 10:00am and close at 8:30pm.

A History of Squassux Landing Program Update

By popular demand, a second program session of "A History of Squassux Landing" has been added on Sunday, May 5 at 1:00pm.  Be sure to reserve your place today by calling 286-1923 or registering online at www.brookhavenfreelibrary.org 

A History of Squassux Landing-Brookhaven Village Historian Marty VanLith will present a narrated slide show of the long and colorful history of the Hamlet's beloved Squassux Landing marina.  From the Unkechaug Indians, to the Post family and on to the present, see what the landing looked like in the days of sailing ferries, boarding houses, eeling and cutting salt hay on the marsh, and how this property came to belong to all hamlet residents.

Hurricane Sandy Update

NEW YORK – Survivors of Hurricane Sandy have two weeks to register for possible disaster assistance and to return applications for low-interest disaster loans to the U.S. Small Business Administration.
The deadline for both is March 29.
FEMA urges everyone who sustained losses from Hurricane Sandy to register, including those who have insurance. Insurance may not cover all losses.
The 13 designated counties are: Bronx, Kings, Nassau, New York, Orange, Putnam, Queens, Richmond, Rockland, Suffolk, Sullivan, Ulster and Westchester.

Big Chill Reading Club News

The Annual Big Chill Winter Reading Club wrapped up over the weekend.  We would like to thank our patrons for participating and thank our generous supporters.

Bernie (2012) - In Carthage, TX, assistant funeral director Bernie Tiede is one of the town's most beloved residents. He sings in the church choir and is always willing to lend a helping hand. He befriends an affluent widow, and she soon becomes dependent on Bernie. Later it is reported that Marjorie Nugent has been dead for some time, and Bernie Tiede is charged with the murder.  Starring:  Jack Black, Shirley Maclaine, Matthew McConaughey.  RATED PG-13.
